MG Rover rumors continue to swirl, including possible Smart link
More rumors this day about the fortunes of MG Rover. Nanjing Automobile, the Chinese carmaker who know controls the fallen British marque’s destiny, says it is unlikely to sell the brand to English businessman David James, following on the heels of reports by a number of British media outlets that have stated his interest therein.
James’ Kimber group is
apparently keen on building two-seaters using MG Rover’s nameplate, but move production away from

No, it doesn't! Although the Smart roadster is/was by far the sportiest model of the line-up, you'd never get to confuse one with an Elise if you saw or drove it in reality. Especially annoying is Smart's automatic, which takes "hours" to shift.

if there is a manual shift avaible...get it, then you don't have problems with automatics, like Ford's need to make their tranny think for what seems like hours before it downshifts to pass someone

Looks like a VW converted into a '60's dunebuggy, with a hatchback from an old Nissan Pulsar. So ugly, it's almost cute.

This car is a BLAST to drive! I drove one when I was on vacation in Berlin. A test drive in Germany can be anywhere from a 2 hour event to an overnight. I did the 2 hour deal. Sure it has a crappy gear box but it handles like a mini and is WAY more fun to drive. Too bad they stopped production. The special edition race one is awesome! I guess I will have to wait a few years and buy one and have it shipped here to the states and restore it. First thing, get rid of the plastic bits around the headlights!
